Code review glossary

Terms from code review between coding agents and reviewer agents, each defined in a sentence and shown in a real review loop.

The agent review loop

A coding agent and reviewer agents working one pull request to merge.

A review finding at or above the repository's gate level that has no answer yet. While one is open, the merge gate fails.

A required check that keeps a pull request from merging until its review findings are dealt with, so a coding agent knows when it is done.

How reviews are asked for, answered and settled.

LGTM means "looks good to me": a reviewer's sign-off that a pull request can merge as it is, written in a comment or with an approving review.

A nit, short for nitpick, is a minor review comment the author is free to ignore, such as a variable name, a comment's wording or a long line.

Panels, false positives and how to measure a reviewer.

A review finding that names a problem the code does not have. With missed bugs, it is the main cost of an AI code reviewer.

In a panel review, the model that merges every reviewer's findings, drops what the code contradicts and writes the one review that is posted.
