# Claude and ChatGPT apps

URL: https://codepanel.ai/docs/claude-and-chatgpt

Add CodePanel to Claude or ChatGPT on the web and desktop as a custom connector, and manage what connected apps can do.

Ask about reviews in plain language ("What did CodePanel find on acme/api#123?", "Rate F2 as fixed.") with nothing to install. For a coding agent, use its own [integration](/docs/coding-agents) instead.

## Add to Claude

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

### 1. Add a custom connector

Open **Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector**. Enter a name (CodePanel) and the connector URL. Leave **Advanced settings** alone.

### 2. Connect and approve

Connect it and sign in to CodePanel with GitHub. On the consent page, check the app name and the return host (`claude.ai`), untick any permissions you don't want to give, and choose **Approve**.

> [!WARNING]
> A connector on the old `.convex.site` URL stops working, and reconnecting it is not enough. Remove it and add `https://codepanel.ai/mcp`.

## Add to ChatGPT

Your ChatGPT plan or workspace must allow custom MCP servers.

### 1. Create a custom MCP server

At [chatgpt.com/plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins), choose **+ → Add custom MCP server**. Give it a name and a description.

### 2. Set the endpoint

Under **Connection**, choose **Public endpoint** and enter the connector URL, including `/mcp`. Set up authentication with OAuth.

### 3. Create and approve

Confirm with **I understand and want to continue**, then **Create as a plugin**. Sign in with GitHub and approve on CodePanel's consent page.

## Verify

Ask: "Use the CodePanel whoami tool." It answers with your GitHub account and its permissions. If it fails, see [Troubleshooting](/docs/coding-agents#troubleshooting).

## Share with your team

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under **Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web**. Each member then connects it and approves it for their own CodePanel account.

## Permissions

A connected app gets only the [scopes](/docs/mcp-server) you leave ticked, for your own repositories and panels, and never sees your provider keys. Its access token lasts an hour and renews in the background. A tool that needs a scope you didn't give fails and asks you to reconnect with it (Claude asks you to approve again).

## Disconnect an app

**Settings → API tokens → Connected apps** lists each app with its permissions and last use. **Disconnect** ends its access immediately; connect again to use it again.
